Friday MashUp & Challenge 222!

Image
I'm not sure about you, but I have to admit ~ I do get excited when it's a rainy day in spring...stampin' here I come! It could be that we have a large yard and large gardens, so I really don't mind the break. I ran around and got the errands done and scooted home to my studio! What a great day! I found two great challenges to play with ~ Friday MashUp & Latenight Stamper's Challenge 222 ! Friday Mash Up used this sketch and also asked us to make a set of cards ~ I did two identical ones, so I'm thinking that I actually did a Mash! Love this sketch BTW! The Latenight Stamper's Challenge was to use retiring colors, so I got to work using, River Rock, Not Quite Navy & Bravo Burgundy...gonna miss you! I also used retired stamp sets, and I'll be hangin' on to these for sure....I really struggled with this as I was creating a male card and still don't know how I feel about it ~ just toooo simple I guess, but it's a wrap regard...

Friday Mashup Meets PPA!

I needed a birthday card for my brother's 50th birthday and I love playing along with challenges which also gives me a starting point! So a hunting we did go!...and here are the two challenges that worked SO well for me ~ thanks so much for the inspiration and a great place to begin! The first challenge I found was the Friday Mashup ~ and their challenge was any past challenge which was great, so here is where I began! Perfect for a Manly birthday card for my brother!!! Now, can I find a color challenge that I like to go along with the idea that was brewing in my mind...and here is what I found at the PPA154  ~  my attempt was to use the Raspberry Ripple and Calypso Coral to give my truck an old rusty feel, I'm pleased with the outcome! I haven't used my blender pens in quite awhile and really enjoyed playing with them! Dave, I hope you like your card ~ I sure do!!! Thanks so much for stopping by today ~ I hope you have a blessed day, if you hav...

Olympics for the Friday Mashup & Freshly Made!

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying your summer ~ it's been blistering hot here in Winnipeg, which is actually very normal for us during summer!!! Love it and love the fact that we are blessed with a wonderful pool, so the heat is welcome in our neighbourhood! Splish Splash!!! I did take a break from the heat today and ventured into another one of my 'happy places' I needed to create a birthday card for our grandson Seth...and I can't believe he's going to be turning 12 on the 19th of July!!! Seth is a wonderful young man, he has such a tender heart and a fabulous sense of humour! Love you Seth xo ~ Here's a shot of our son teaching Seth how to tie a tie and little brother Owen watching and learning as well! If find it difficult to create masculine cards and even more so for a young man....but what a fabulous challenge over at The Friday Mashup ~ this was my starting point and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this,   I then fol...

Happy Bright Birthday along with A Friday Mash Up!

Image
I found this fabulous challenge at the Friday Mash Up #65....and I was definitely feeling punchy as well,    so this was just too perfect and I had to join in the fun! I really tried to challenge myself as well, by using Bright colours, this is definitely out of my comfort zone and I'm still not to sure how I feel about my card ~  I began by looking in my stash of paper...do I ever have paper....almost embarrassing already! So I looked in my discontinued files after looking at our old SU colour wheel. I knew I wanted to start with Gable Green as my main colour! and so the wheel said...Pixie Pink & Apricot Appeal...and I'm going to create using these colours....are you kidding!!! Out came my punches for the flowers, Beautiful Wings Embosslits and got to work ~ or should I say play ~ I really enjoy my time in my studio and it really has been lacking lately ~ it has been super hot and humid lately and even though we have a beautiful pool to enjoy, one can only repose ...

Happy New Year!

What a beautiful evening we shared with dear friends yesterday. We've been getting together for New Years Eve for 15 years or so (as well as throughout the year). We are so blessed!!! First we sat down for dinner, then had a rousing game of Canasta...and Judi & I kicked some serious butt last night...it's been awhile since it's been our turn to win, so it was pretty sweet to say the least! We then all decided that we just wanted to sit and visit and Judi & I pulled out our knitting needles...talk about a relaxing evening, it was fabulous!  Judi & I have always exchanged gifts, but decided that we both have everything we need/want and so opted to nix the gift portion of our time....but I still HAD to make a card and what fun I had creating this just before they popped in for the evening. I found two great challenges that I wanted to play along with and got to work...or should I say play!  Friday Mashup challenge 39 was calling for a Shiny New Year....perfect, th...

Friday Mash Up & Freshly Made!

Image
Fall has definitely been ushered into my neighborhood ~ the trees are glorious, the air is crisp and the garden has fallen into it's winter rest....did I say winter!!! You bet, and I've been busy getting ready for my Christmas Stack Class ~ here is a peek at just one of the cards that we will be creating ~ I flipped the sketch from {Freshly Made}   and loosely followed it and my card also qualifies for the Friday Mash Up , as they called out for snowflakes!  ~ thanks girls for these wonderful challenges ~ please visit these gals and join in the fun! And the card..........I sponged just a tad around this wonderful tree found in the Christmas Lodge stamp set ~ what a beautiful set and a must have in my studio! The snowflake was created using the Northern Frost Die, sticky tape & Dazzling Diamonds....a girl can never have to many dazzling diamonds! It's really hard to tell in the photo, but I used Shimmery White CS ~ there is a very subtle misting of snowflakes across th...
