Play Date Meets The Paper Craft Crew!

Image
Has it really been that long....oh how I miss blogging and playing in my studio...all is well here, just busy with elderly parents, hospital visits, grand babies...oh...and another one on the way! Our daughter is due in February, yes, it's been that long and my forgetful brain ~ I kept forgetting to mention this great news ~ so this will be grand baby #5 for us, so far we have 4 grandsons...only the Lord knows who's sweet little toes will be gracing us with his/her presence!!! Now Austin is grandson #3 for us and I can't believe that we'll be celebrating his second birthday already! This shot was taken this past summer ~ Dean & I took the boys to the park for the day! And of course our boys love trains...and they also LOVE Dinosaurs...which is perfect for Austin's birthday card...I ordered this set with our boys in mind   ~ so I found two perfect challenges to go along with my card! My colour inspiration is from The Play Date Cafe  and my sketch

Sneaking Around with Freshly Made #54 & Color Throwdown #211!

Image
This is a top secret post...I feel like a little girl sneaking around and being really bad...you see, I should be packing the trailer as we're going camping this weekend, but I really wanted to create a card...and so...this will be a super quick post and details will follow if some one asks! Now the reason I say that is...well, I won't remember to add details when we get back (early onset dementia I think!!!!)...so I'll be throwing the ball into your court!  I followed two fabulous challenges...loves these so much girls, thank you for giving me a starting point, heaven knows I need it...so pop in of  Freshly Made  &  Color Throwdown , there is still time to play!!!                           Here are the two challenges...oh I had a blast, thanks again girls! And my card..sorry to post and run, but Dean will be home in a couple of hours and I really need to get finished, this way we can pull out the minute he gets home... Here are a few shots I took o

Merry Monday #33!!!

Image
I have been wanting to join the Merry Monday Challenge on a regular basis, but life just won't seem to allow me the time....so when I do get to play along, I'm giddy like a little girl on Christmas morning ~ how fitting!!! And now that I see the sketch challenge, I realized that I forgot my bow at the top of my card...I sure hope that's okay Lesley! I really enjoy putting this together and it sparkles like crazy...although the picture doesn't do it justice at all!...I used my homemade shimmer mist using rubbing alcohol and Frost White Shimmer Paint, I misted the card and the ornaments! I also used my Dazzling Details on the ornaments on both sides, take a closer look and you'll see the sparkle...see!!!!!  These ornaments where stamped twice, used my Framelits Dies adhered my gold cord and then kissed these ornaments together! Then I got out the bling!!! Love it! And as you can see below, these ornaments are free flowing on the card! I masked the inside

Freshly Made & ColourQ#154

Image
I really seem to be having a hard time getting into the fall groove...must be the summer like temperatures that we're having ~ 25C on Friday (77F) ~ so needless to say, the pool is still open and we'll be celebrating Angela & Kevin's Birthday's with a pool/BBQ Bash! But I did get some stampin in last night...my DH is so sweet, he came downstairs and watched his shows while I created, he said "I just want to be near you"...I'm blessed... So the two challenges that I entered are... Freshly Made (love this blog) ~ the challenge was an Anniversary Celebration, and here is the sketch that I chose to use, but I flipped it on it's side & the Colour Q # 154 ! Now if you've never played along with these challenges or it's been awhile...jump over and have a peek!!!! Join in the fun ~ I had a blast!!!   My card is another Triple Time Stamping Technique....I'm in LOVE with this Technique and  just needed to create another and whe

Dynamic Duos #18 & FMS #50

Image
What a Dynamic Duo...literally...and I actually stamped, played, and sang in my room today, I was constantly being pulled outside to play in my garden and my knitting needles were also calling me ~ oh...but my POOR neglected stamps and toys won the day...I had a blast!!! So here is the fabulous sketch from Freshly Made that I followed...and incidentally...there is still time to play, so run and have some fun!!! And then I followed the color challenge over at Dynamic Duos ... and yes, I'm using a Red shade once again, which I seem to run from, I'm pleased with the out come of this card ~ it does look sweeter IRL ~ once I got going on this card, I realized that I actually don't own Poppy Parade Stamp Pad, so I improvised by using Ruby Red, but my CS is Poppy Parade ~ so here's my card...and I also really wanted to try Triple Time Stamping...and I LOVE this Technique! So did you notice...my En Francais is upside down!!! RMS ~ rusty mojo syndrome!

Retro Sketches #25 and a sad good bye

Image
What a fun night of creating we had last night. The day began at the pool in the after noon, as the rest of the girls came, I fired up the BBQ, we ate and laughed and shared stories! We then headed downstairs and created a fabulous card ~ oh how I love my time with the girls!!! Or as Isaac calls them "the ladies" ...but the evening was bitter sweet for me ~ one of 'my ladies' is moving to the west coast ~ I will miss creating with you Theresa! My farewell card for Theresa began with this wonderful sketch from Retro Sketches ~ I love the sketches found here ~ Play along...you'll really enjoy your time...great for missing mojo...which is definitely  what I struggle with...so here is the awesome sketch that I followed... And my card for Theresa...gonna miss you girl xo :-) As you can see, I flipped a few of the elements...hope that was okay girls! Sorry for this super quick post...Angela is speaking at camp this week and I'm hangin'

Stamping 411 Challenge + Retro Sketch #19

Image
I'm so excited to play along with two challenges today ~ I've never played with the sketches over at Retro Sketch and I just LOVE these sketches and then found this colour challenge over at Stamping 411 ...come join in the fun and get creating!!!! You'll have a blast, I promise! What a fun day I've had ~ sat on my riding mower, cut the grass (takes about 2 hours) ~  I find it really relaxing for me, time to ponder, pray for those I love and sometimes I catch myself singing my heart out...my poor neighbours! Then I went for a dip in the pool, relaxed with a nice tall ice water and began to knit by the pool ~ sunny and hot and yes, I was under my beach umbrella ~ Dean is away on a fishing trip and so the house is extra quiet, the kids all had plans, so I was alone all day and was it ever quiet and relaxing...almost too quiet, almost!!! I strolled into the house around 8pm and headed to my studio to create a birthday card for a dear friend of ours ~ and yes ~ another

Olympics for the Friday Mashup & Freshly Made!

Image
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying your summer ~ it's been blistering hot here in Winnipeg, which is actually very normal for us during summer!!! Love it and love the fact that we are blessed with a wonderful pool, so the heat is welcome in our neighbourhood! Splish Splash!!! I did take a break from the heat today and ventured into another one of my 'happy places' I needed to create a birthday card for our grandson Seth...and I can't believe he's going to be turning 12 on the 19th of July!!! Seth is a wonderful young man, he has such a tender heart and a fabulous sense of humour! Love you Seth xo ~ Here's a shot of our son teaching Seth how to tie a tie and little brother Owen watching and learning as well! If find it difficult to create masculine cards and even more so for a young man....but what a fabulous challenge over at The Friday Mashup ~ this was my starting point and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this,   I then fol

Happy Bright Birthday along with A Friday Mash Up!

Image
I found this fabulous challenge at the Friday Mash Up #65....and I was definitely feeling punchy as well,    so this was just too perfect and I had to join in the fun! I really tried to challenge myself as well, by using Bright colours, this is definitely out of my comfort zone and I'm still not to sure how I feel about my card ~  I began by looking in my stash of paper...do I ever have paper....almost embarrassing already! So I looked in my discontinued files after looking at our old SU colour wheel. I knew I wanted to start with Gable Green as my main colour! and so the wheel said...Pixie Pink & Apricot Appeal...and I'm going to create using these colours....are you kidding!!! Out came my punches for the flowers, Beautiful Wings Embosslits and got to work ~ or should I say play ~ I really enjoy my time in my studio and it really has been lacking lately ~ it has been super hot and humid lately and even though we have a beautiful pool to enjoy, one can only repose by poo

PP100 ~ Party Time!!!

Image
What a fun challenge over at Paper Players ....get running and happy creating!!!  How can you tell that we're stuck in a low pressure situation here in Winnipeg....it's still rainy and overcast, which means I'm having a blast in my studio!!! Here's a super quick card that I put together from the theme challenge #5 found here !  I'm still finding a little (okay) a lot of this & that all over my desk...and I came across this super sweet baby dress and there you have my card! Now I really want to get back to this challenge and find another one to create...ohhhh.....and I just heard a truck door slam...so that means that my wonderful friend in brown is at my door with a box of goodies....YAH!!! I'll get to play with some new toys! I gotta run ~ I know you understand!!!! But since we're on the baby theme, I'll leave you with a sweet picture of my little Owen ~ our youngest grandson....and a cutie! Thank you SO much for stopping by

Okay ~ I sure hope I'm not the only one out there ~ yikes ~ just sitting quietly with a cup of tea, and decided I should clean up my 'inbox' before we head out for Father's Day Celebrations with our children and grandsons...and I found this fabulous note from the very talented Anne Marie at the Paper Players  ~ and I was her cut above for my Mother's Day Card ! Once again Anne Marie , I'm honoured ~ thank you so much ~ and my Cut Above card...... Thank you so much for stopping by today and taking the time to read this quick post! Have a wonderful day ~ if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a line! Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers out there! Please pop in on the second page of my blog...you'll find a link to some knitting that I created. Drop me a line if you have any questions! If you live in Winnipeg or the vicinity and would like to host a party I would love to come and stamp with you and your friends

PDCC & FMS39

What a wonderful day of stampin' I had ~ as it poured outside, I played and prayed for friends and family members. My heart goes out to a dear friend who had to say goodbye to her sweet cat Pumpkin! Praying for you LeAnne . As I sat at my desk, I decided that I would do my best to use up the scraps that were gazing at me....all over my desk top...so I scooted a clear spot and got to work ~ (does anyone else ever do that) ~ I was actually surprised as my card came together. My focus was on the challenge at Play Date Cafe and the sketch from Freshly Made ! After I had finished my card and began my post, I realized that my colour choice was not close to the picture ~ what I was actually focused on was  Azure  ...  Raspberry  ...  Blackberry and I thought my colours were close to this ~ sorry girls, I hope this is okay! I guess I don't know my colours very well! I had stamped this vintage car stamp ages ago, seriously, probably a year ago and there is s
